NC State’s Kevin Concepcion Ranks 57th in CBS Sports’ Preseason Top-100 College Football Players

CBS Sports released their Preseason Top 100 College Football players heading into the 2024 season, and NC State Sophomore Wide Receiver Kevin Concepcion was ranked #57.

57. NC State WR Kevin Concepcion

The rising sophomore is an all-around talent who can beat you in a bunch of ways, but mainly as a receiver. Concepcion rushed for over 300 yards at 7.8 per carry and caught 71 balls and 10 touchdowns for the season. The true freshman lit up the ACC and did most of his damage on the intermediate part of the field but has the speed to make the explosive catches as well. In his second year of college football, I’m positioning Concepcion as a top-10 receiver in the country. (CBS)

NC State is 1 of 8 Power 5 Teams that Hasn’t Won 10+ Football Games in a Season in 20+ Years

NC State is 1 of 8 Power 5 Football Programs that hasn’t won 10+ games in a single season in 20+ seasons.

The other teams that join the Wolfpack in this woeful stat are Maryland, Illinois, Virginia, Purdue, Iowa St., Indiana and Vanderbilt. The final three in this list have never won 10+ games in a single season.

NC State has only won 10+ games in a single season one time, and that was back in 2002, when Philip Rivers led the Wolfpack to an 11-3 record, which culminated in a win against Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl.

The Virginia Cavaliers and the Wolfpack are the only two ACC programs that haven’t won 10+ games in a single season in 20+ seasons.

Over the past 20+ seasons, NC State has won 9 games on 5 occasions, with Dave Doeren leading the Wolfpack to 4 of those.

With all of the talent that is on NC State’s roster, especially on the offensive side of the ball, 2024 is cooking up to be the year that Dave Doeren gets the monkey off the programs back.

Honestly, less than 10 wins next season will be a disappointment for the Wolfpack.
