A Letter from NC State AD Boo Corrigan Addresses Reducing Coaches Salaries
NC State Athletic Director Boo Corrigan released the following letter today sharing how they are planning to reduce the salaries of coaches to help compensate for the expected loss of $25-35 million of projected revenue due to COVID-19.

The onset of the global pandemic in March has shifted our worlds in unimaginable ways. College athletics stopped on the dime when NCAA tournaments were cancelled in multiple sports. Since that fateful day, we have worked diligently to find a way for our staff and student-athletes to safely resume operating and competing-however limited that may be. COVID-19 has continued to disrupt our Pack this Fall as championships have been pushed to the Spring, and football and fall sports seasons began without fans in the stands.
As we’ve moved through this process, we have been cautious, but realistic on the financial burden placed on the department. As a result of COVID-19, we expect to lose between $25-$35 million in projected revenue. Impact has already been felt widespread throughout our staff and teams as we have taken proactive and on-going measures through operational cuts, reduction in overtime, and positions left vacant across the department. However, we are still facing a significant departmental revenue deficit.
Due to the circumstances and reality we face, effective October 24, 2020 through June 30, 2021, we will implement temporary salary reductions or furloughs to each permanent member of our staff, as follows:
- Coaches and staff members making $200,000 or more will have their salaries temporarily reduced by 20 percent.
- Coaches and staff members making $100,000 to $199,999 will have their salaries temporarily reduced by 15 percent.
- Coaches and staff members who make less than $100,000 will be furloughed for 19 days.
These are uncomfortable and very difficult decisions and I fully understand that actions taken will have a significant impact on individuals and families. This is not the byproduct of a lack of success, commitment, or passion of our entire staff, rather an excruciating reality we face as a department, and in higher education.
Unfortunately, this action alone will not eliminate our budget challenges. We will continue to aggressively work to fundraise with the Wolfpack Club, and our University to find a way through this time.

NC State Ranks 8th in Players Selected in the NFL Draft in the ACC in the Last 10 Years
The 2024 NFL Draft has come and gone, and NC State had two players drafted: Linebacker Payton Wilson in the 3rd round, and Center Dylan McMahon in the 6th round.
Over the past 10 years, NC State has produced 25 NFL Draft picks, and 3 1st round picks. The 25 Draft Picks ranks 8th in the ACC, and the 3 1st Round picks is tied for 7th.
NC State produced 18 NFL Draft Picks in the first 5 Draft’s of Dave Doeren’s tenure. Only 8 Wolfpack players have been selected in the past 5 NFL Drafts.

Battle had 1 year of eligibility remaining, but declared for the NFL Draft on January 3rd.
He finished this past year as the most experienced player on the Wolfpack’s defense, starting in 41 of the 51 games he has played in dating back to 2019. In a rarity in this day-and-age, Battle was a 4-year starter at the Cornerback position for NC State. He graduated with a degree in Communications.
In his final season in Red and White, Battle had 46 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 4 pass breakups and 1 fumble recovery. His PFF Grade of 70.6 was the 7th best on the Wolfpack defense.
