Oklahoma Transfer RB Daylan Smothers Commits to NC State!

Published

on

Finally! Oklahoma Transfer Running Back Daylan Smothers (5’11″/190) has committed to NC State.

Back in December, Smothers’ took an Official Visit to NC State on the weekend of December 15th. Smothers didn’t visit any other schools. After his visit, behind the scenes, Smothers’ desire to commit to NC State was known. There have simply been details that needed to be figured out, and obviously those details have been figured out.

Smothers was a 4-Star prospect (ESPN & Rivals) in the 2023 recruiting class out of Charlotte, and chose Oklahoma over NC State, Alabama and FSU. ESPN ranked Smothers as the #230 overall player nationally in the 2023 recruiting class, and the #12 Running Back. Rivals ranked him as the #6 player in the state of North Carolina.

As a True Freshman at Oklahoma, Smothers played in 4 games, allowing him to redshirt the season. He rushed the ball 11 times for 42 yards in 33 snaps of play. As a result, Smothers will be a Redshirt Freshman at NC State in the Fall, with 4 years of eligibility remaining.

NC State has crushed the Transfer Portal this offseason. They already picked up a commitment from Duke Transfer Running Back Jordan Waters, who 247Sports ranks as the #3 Running Back in the Transfer Portal. Rivals ranks Smothers as the #15 Running Back in the Portal.

Two Top-15 Running Backs in one Transfer Class…yes, please.

Four years of eligibility is great. Now all we need are some good offensive and defensive linemen.
