James & Jones Lead #13 NC State to 79-51 Win Over Kent State

The 13th ranked NC State Women’s Basketball team bounced back last night, defeating 79-51.

Senior Guard Aziaha James had a team high 20 points (season high), shooting 8 0f 15 from the field, and 4 of 9 from three. She also led the team with 9 boards and 4 assists (0 turnovers).

Freshman Guard Zam Jones started her first collegiate game with Sophomore Zoe Brooks out due to a family emergency. Jones scored 16 points for the 2nd straight game, shooting 6 of 11 from the field, and 2 of 4 from three.

The Wolfpack shot 48.5% from the field, and held Kent State to a dismal 26.3%. The Wolfpack outrebounded Kent State 44-33, and also won the battle of the offensive glass 12-10. The Wolfpack forced 17 turnovers, and only committed 10 of their own. Kent State got to the charity stripe 11 times (11-11), compared to NC State’s 7 free throw attempts (5-7).

NC State scored 18 points off of turnovers, compared to Kent State’s 11. The Wolfpack had 12 second chance points, compared to the Golden Eagles’ 7.

NC State lived in the paint, scoring 46 points in the box, while Kent State only scored 6 points in the paint.

The Wolfpack will hit the road for their next game, playing at TCU on Sunday at 3pm on ESPN. The Horned Frogs are right outside the AP Top-25, sitting at #27.
