on

The NC State Women’s Basketball team lost their first game of the season yesterday, falling 73-76 on the road against TCU.

The loss of River Baldwin, and the current absence of Caitlin Weimar, who transferred in this offseason from Boston, was felt in a major way yesterday.

TCU Center Sedona Prince was an unstoppable force yesterday, with 31 points and 16 rebounds.

Senior Guard Aziaha James led the Pack with 27 points (10-18), and 5 three’s (5-11). She also had 5 rebounds. Senior Guard Saniya Rivers had 16 points (8-16 FG) and 5 boards.

Sophomore Guard Zoe Brooks had 15 points (6-12 FG/2-4 3PT) and a team high 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

NC State only turned the ball over 7 times, but TCU was more stingy, turning the ball over only 4 times. TCU scored 9 points off of turnovers, compared to the Wolfpack’s 2.

TCU had 3 more offensive boards, which led to 11 second chance points. NC State only had 4 second chance points.

Both teams relatively shot the same percentage from the field, and got to the free throw line at around the same rate.

NC State lost this game quite simply because they had no answers in the post.
