Dave Doeren and his Wolfpack will look to get back on track today when they travel to Boston College and take on the Eagles.

This obviously isn’t going to be an easy win for State. We’re talking about a Wolfpack team that still has no true identity and still isn’t sure who their starting quarterback is. They’ll be taking on a very hungry Boston College team who is one win away from bowl eligibility and plays a very physical, very smashmouth style of football.

What we can surely expect is that the Eagles are going to run the football a lot. There’s not much trickery or misdirection going on with this team. They’re lining up in run formations and running the football up the gut. That’s pretty much what they’ve done to this point and it’s worked pretty well under first year coach Steve Addazio. Now, it doesn’t hurt that they have the league’s leading rusher, Andre Williams, who is an absolute physical specimen who relishes contact and loves hard nosed football.

State needs to be ready to lace’em up and and get tough. They’re going to need to play more physical than we’ve seen them play all year if they want this win. They’re going to also need to play through fatigue. BC can wear you down. With their commitment to the ground game they really eat up a lot of clock and keep you defense on the field. State can help themselves by prolonging some drives and making plays on offense, but it really hasn’t been a strong suit of theirs this season.

State is still looking for their first conference win and there’s no better time to start than today.
