NC State’s Carlos Rodon and Trea Turner could become the first three-time All-Americans in NC State baseball history

FORT WORTH, Texas – NC State baseball’s Carlos Rodon and Trea Turner have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason All-America team, announcedWednesday by the organization.

For the second year in a row, Rodon lands on the NCBWA first team and Turner earns a second-team mention. Turner made the NCBWA’s preseason All-America second team at third base heading into 2013 and returns this year as a shortstop.

Alex Bregman of LSU captured first-team honors at shortstop after joining Turner as one of three finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award last season, an award Bregman took home.

The NCBWA’s 2013 list made Rodon and Turner the first Wolfpack teammates featured on the same preseason All-America team since Andrew Brackman and Aaron Bates in 2006. Turner and Rodon are now the lone Wolfpackers to repeat that feat.

If both Rodon and Turner earn All-America recognition at the conclusion of the 2014 season, they will represent the first three-time All-Americans in NC State baseball history.
