We meant to get this up yesterday, so we apologize for it’s tardiness but we couldn’t go without posting it.

WILSON HONORED / SPRING GAME:
This weekend was a big one for numerous NC State sports teams, but let’s start with football where they hosted the annual Kay Yow Spring game and honored some NC State greats.

Check out the video above at GoPack.com. It’s definitely worth a watch. The highlight is listening to Russell Wilson talk about his time at NC State. As you know, we at PackInsider were never behind the decision of Tom O’Brien to push Wilson out the door. The guy was like the Derrick Jeter of NC State. A superstar with great character, who put the team before himself. The problem was that O’Brien wanted to make his mark at State and Glennon was his guy. This decision ended up really dividing the fanbase and ended up being TOB’s undoing. But, all in all it was great to hear that Wilson still considers himself a member of the Pack and thanked the fans and the school for helping him achieve his dreams. The guy is just a true stand up guy that no one can hate. State should feel proud to be on this guys resume.

Now, onto the spring game.

Check out the video above for Doeren’s thoughts from the game (over at WRAL.com).

I think the most anticipated part of this game was for Pack fans to get a look at Jacoby Brissett at QB and they got their money’s worth. This kid is good. He threw for 365 yards and 2 TDs. As the starter this year, State will finally have a guy they can rely on under center. One of Brissett’s main targets could end up being freshman WR Bo Hines. NC State is hoping Hines can become their version of Wes Welker and upon first glance, he didn’t disappoint. The freshman had 132 yards on 9 catches. Overall, the NC State receiving corps could be pretty good with senior Underwood as their deep threat (he caught a 70 yard touchdown in this one).

The red team beat the white team 34-0.

NC STATE BASEBALL IS SOMEHOW STRUGGLING
With their loss to Duke on Sunday, State fell to 6-12 in the ACC. Now, this is a team that had people talking national title with superstars Rodon and Turner, but now they’re just hoping to get to Omaha at all. Their going to have to flip the switch  real soon if they want that to happen. They can do that tonight as they take on UNC in Durham.

GATLING SELECTED BY WNBA’S CHICAGO SKY IN 2014  DRAFT
(From GoPack.com) On Monday evening, senior center Markeisha Gatling of the No. 21 NC State women’s basketball team became the 14th student athlete in program history to be chosen in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Draft.

With the 10th pick in this year’s draft, the Chicago Sky selected NC State’s Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention and Raleigh native. She becomes the third Wolfpacker to be selected in the first round of the college draft*, joining Chasity Melvin (11th overall in 1999) and Summer Erb (11th overall in 2000).
