Congrats to former Wolfpacker TJ Warren who last night was selected 14th overall in the NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. Looks like TJ made the right call leaving school after his sophomore season and is not on his way to what looks to be a promising NBA career. With that said, let’s take a look at how he’ll slot in with the Suns.

TJ Warren Outlook with Phoenix
Now, this is a team that prides itself on offense and they’re not shy about it. While they could have sured up some defensive needs or gone with a quality big, they went ahead and added another scorer in Warren. The good thing is that TJ is going to fit right in with their style of play. The bad news is that this is not a team that was in need of scorers, thus forcing him to compete against other guys with similar skill sets for a spot on the court. He will likely start off his career as a role player off the bench, but could easily weasel his way into this starting line-up if he can get his game to translate at this level.

TJ Warren Quotes:

“I understood I was a high priority for them. It was a great visit. I had a great workout for the Suns. I’m excited to be here and I’m ready to get to work!”

“I feel like I fit in great. There style of play fits my style of play. They like to get up and down, score in transition for easy buckets. That’s something I showed at a college level and am ready to show at a pro level.”

“Just being creative and finishing at the rim with athletic plays, shoot midrange shots as well as 3point shots and me just being a playmaker and being another versatile guy to add to the suns.”
