Philip Rivers QB San Diego Chargers: 21-36 238 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, Passer Rating 75.6

This past Monday night Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers faced the Arizona Cardinals, which resulted in a 17-18 loss. Philip never really got in rhythm as the Cardinals were able to keep the pressure on him and virtually made the Chargers one dimensional. The run game was a complete non-factor. The Chargers only gained a total of 52 yards on the ground attack…this was a big reason why Rivers couldn’t get going. The Cardinals put San Diego in lots of obvious passing downs that lead to all out pass rushes and left little open spots.

Things will not get any easier as the Chargers welcome the Super Bowl Champs Seattle Seahawks to town. Philip has been quoted as stating that Richard Sherman will not be a no fly zone. Rivers was complimentary of Sherman but said he will be smart in attacking that side of the field.

Russell Wilson QB Seattle Seahawks: 19-28 191 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, Passer Rating 110.9

On primetime Thursday night football Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks started their defense in a dominating fashion by pounding the Green Bay Packers by a score of 36 to 16. Much of the night Russell found the right guy at the right time to make the Green Bay defense pay. He frequently found Percy Harvin and other Seahawks receivers to keep the Green Bay defense from stacking 8 players in the box.

Russell completed a total of 19 passes to 8 different receivers, his ability to spread the ball around makes it difficult for opposing defenses to key on any given player. This unselfishness also leads to each and every player giving maximum effort because they know that if they are open Russell will find them. Wilson’s ability to distribute the rock equally has given him the cross sport comparison to John Stockton, the all time leader in assists in NBA history

This week the Seahawks travel to San Diego to face the Chargers. I know Wilson is ready to face an opposing defense that allowed Carson Palmer to throw for multiple touchdowns as well as over 300 yards. Look for the Seahawks to continue their winning ways in San Diego with Russell pulling the trigger!

Mario Williams DE Buffalo Bills: 2 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 QB Hit

Mario Williams was a constant thorn in Bear’s QB Jay Cutler’s side this past Sunday. Williams was constantly getting into the backfield causing havoc as the Bills pulled the upset in Soldier Field.

This week Mario Williams and the Bills square off against the Miami Dolphins who are coming off of an impressive victory over the New England Patriots. Ryan Tannehill will keep an eye out for the athletic terror Super Mario!

Steven Hauschka Kicker Seattle Seahawks: 2/2 FG, 4/4 XP

Hauschka was his usual accurate self in the home opener for the Seahawks. For his career Hauschka is 100/116 for an impressive 86.2 % career mark. The Seahawks have little to worry about when it comes to the kicking game!

Stephen Tulloch ILB Detroit Lions: 8 Tackles, 6 Solo.

Tulloch has been a welcome addition to the Lions defense since his arrival in 2011. Just last season Tulloch tallied 135 tackles and 93 solo tackles. Tulloch was flying all over the field on Monday night to help hold the Giants to only 14 points and helped force 2 turnovers on the night.

This Sunday the Lions travel to Charlotte to face the Panthers. Look for Tulloch to have big impact on the game not only in his play but also through his calls. Tulloch makes lot of adjustments for the Lions defense to make sure everyman is accounted for.

David Amerson CB Washington Redskins: 5 Total Tackles, 5 Solo

Amerson was solid in his first game entering his second season in the NFL. He was matched up with all pro Andre Johnson as well as Deandre Hopkins. Amerson has received lots of praise from new Coach Jay Gruden, who has noticed that Amerson has matured on the field and seems more poised in pressure situations. Gruden also highlighted the fact that Amerson is playing with lots of confidence, which is a key ingredient to being a corner in the NFL.

The Redskins and Amerson face the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. Look for Amerson to get a few good looks at getting an interception this week.
