Deep Stats: State’s Impressive Win Over Charleston Southern

NC State heads into todays’s game against Wofford riding the heels of a 86-50 win over Charleston Southern on Friday, which happened to be their best statical performance of the young season. They posted their second best offensive (126.2 Offensive Efficiency) and defensive (73.4 Defensive Efficiency) performance on Friday.

They shot extremely well, but what is even more noteworthy, is how they’ll care of ball and how they crashed the offensive glass. Their Turnover Percentage (% of possessions you turn the ball over) was 14.7%, which was their best showing in the last four games. Make that number a season average, and you rank in the Top-10 in the nation in TO%. They also had an insane Offensive Rebounding Percentage against Charleston Southern of 46.3%. That’s how Kentucky hits the offensive glass every game.

NC State held Charleston Southern to an effective field goal percentage of 32.2%, which is two tenths of a point away from being the worst anyone has shot against the Pack this year. The most notable area of improvement was in their ability to create turnovers. Charleston Southern turned the ball on 20.6% of their possessions, which is the best job the Wolfpack have done all season in creating turnovers.

All this without the presence of the best player on their roster: Trevor Lacey
