NC State offers 4 star 2015 PG Traci Carter

It seemed as thought Mark Gottfried wasn’t too concerned about his 2015 recruiting class (outside of 5 star uber-prospect Brandon Ingram). They team is only losing Ralston Turner next year and they have transfer Terry Henderson waiting in the wings to replace him. But it now seems that Gottfried might actually be making a late run on a PG. 4 Star PG Traci Carter, a late bloomer by all means, supposedly got an offer two days ago.

Carter is 6’2 PG from New Jersey who has been turning heads this season. He is wrangly, plays with a high basketball IQ and has a nice stroke. He currently holds offers from Pitt, St. John’s, Memphis and FSU. You can now add the Wolfpack to that list.

Adding a PG might not seem like it makes much sense since you already have Cat Barber and Trevor Lacey returning at the position, however the move could signal a changing of direction for Gottfried. Either he’s not 100% sure Barber is his PG of the future (he has been losing minutes as of late) or he’s starting to realize that when Barber needs a breather, Lacey may not be the best option to spell him. The reason behind that could be the dire need for Lacey to put up points. He’s NC State’s leading scorer and Gottfried might feel that he’s better served simply staying at the 2 and focusing on that. Of course, it could also just be a move to add depth to an already deep roster.

Either way, Carter is a player and teams are starting to realize that. We’ll keep an eye on the situation as it unfolds.
