Anya Lifts Pack With 0.1 Seconds 66-65

In thrilling fashion NC State finds a way to advance to the round of 32 behind some heroic plays by BeeJay Anya in the waning moments that pushed the Pack past the LSU Tigers. With roughly 12 seconds left NC State inbounded the ball to Trevor Lacey who couldn’t find any daylight, instead of forcing a shot he dished to BeeJay who calmly caught the ball and reverse pivoted to shoot a left handed baby hook….time seemed to be frozen as the ball hung on the rim only to drop in with .1 seconds remaining!

Hysteria broke out as the buzzer sounded as the NC State bench rushed towards BeeJay to celebrate. I would love to see video of all the local bars as the ball went through the net. This game was a perfect example of why life as a State fan is a life of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. How many teams could come back from being down by as many as 16 in the second half only to win? How many teams would have given up? I applaud our program for believing in each other and not giving up. It really is quite simple why State won…They wanted it more! This time of the year the best team doesn’t always win; however, it is the team that wants it more. Hats off to Gottfried and his players for finding a way to advance.

Whittenburg said it best, “Survive and advance!”

Side Note: Kyle Washington and Dez Lee were the spark plugs that ignited the comeback. These two were more than ready when their numbers were called upon and answered the call with an outstanding performance.

Next up #1 Villanova this Saturday, the time hasn’t been announced.
