Catching Up With: Ralston Turner

We had the opportunity to ask Ralston some questions about his time at State and what he will be doing going forward. State was very fortunate to have Turner because of his ability to stretch defenses and his outstanding leadership. There is no question that he was a big time addition to North Carolina State University not only because of his talent on the court but was equally important off of it. I am sure we (Packinsider) are not alone in wishing Ralston the best of luck as he continues his playing career professionally.

PI: What was your favorite place to play? Why?

RT: I think I would have to go with UNC. That place has great tradition and their fans were always into it where played there. It was really fun this year to go there and come out with a win in such a tough environment.

PI: Why did you choose State over other schools when your transferred?

RT: I chose State because I was intrigued by the recent success they had. Plus they were in the ACC and I knew  I would have an opportunity to earn some minutes. It also helped that I had previously known Coach Gottfried.

PI: What role if any did you play in the development of Trevor and Terry while they sat out due to being transfers?

RT: When sitting out it’s different for each player. There wasn’t a whole lot I needed to say because they both seemed to handle and take full advantage of their year off.

PI: So basically the year off is unique to each player. For example some may need to focus on their conditioning or their bodies like a Kyle Wiltjer at Gonzaga? Or maybe a player will focus on their outside shooting or overcoming some flaw in their mechanics?

RT: Exactly.

PI: What is the inside scoop on Terry Henderson? What type of player should State fans expect to see next season?

RT: Terry is really athletic. He is also a good shooter who is capable of putting the ball on the floor to get to the rim. He’ll be good for them next year!

PI: What are your next steps as you pursue your professional basketball career?

RT: I want to continue playing for as long as I can. I’m just trying to stay active and then towards the end of the summer I’ll weigh my options and try and make the best choice.

Again, we would like to thank Ralston for taking the time to answer a few questions for us. We wish you the best of luck in your career going forward and really enjoyed having you be a part of the Pack!
