Recruiting Targets: Big Men

NC State will need to land some commits to add some length and youth to our power forward and center spots. This next season State will have a rotation of three traditional 4s and 5s. It is pretty easy to see that the majority of minutes for the two front court positions will be split between Freeman, Anya, and Abu. As we spoke in our previous post their minutes may fluctuate depending on the style of play State runs with. With these three players and two of them upper class-men, Gottfried needs to reload his hopper. Here are a couple of targets for the Pack.

Edrice “Bam Bam” Adebayo 6-8 220 Pinetown, NC

Bam Bam is high on Gottfried’s priority list and would love to secure a commitment from him as he is one of the most dynamic players in the 2016 class. We have already had plenty of footage of “Bam-Bam” and many are familiar with his strengths. The thing about Adebayo is that he is so dynamic there seems to be new highlight reels each time he steps onto the court. I am sure Gottfried and his Staff are salivating at a potential pairing of Abu and Adebayo. Can you think of a more athletic tandem in the NCAA? This past season Adebayo averaged just over 18 points per game and over 19 rebounds per outing. He is proving to not be satisfied with just being a top 20 recruit.

Tony Bradley 6-10 230 Bartow, Fl

We haven’t talked about Bradley but he has been on State’s radar for sometime now. Gottfried offered him roughly a year ago and Bradley has continued to improve. He is gifted at using his body and seems to be coordinated which is unusual for his combination of his age and being 6-10. Another positive is that he displays soft hands and touch around the basket. As you can see in the video below he makes a couple of nice catches in traffic and gathers himself to score. Bradley will become a monster once he is introduced to the weight training programs at the next level. He certainly has plenty of room to add muscle and has broad shoulders.

Trevor Stanback 6-9 215 West Hills, CA

It is no secret that NC State’s coaching staff has plenty of connections in the golden state. It is only a matter of time before they lure a player from California to Raleigh. Trevor’s frame and playing style reminds me of John Henson. Stanback is extremely lanky and has excellent timing on blocking shots. The other thing that is intriguing about Trevor is that he is left handed which always makes things difficult for other players trying to defend him. This past season Stanback missed all but 6 games due to illness. This will be an important summer for him as he looks to get back into the AAU circuit.

There is no doubt that the Staff will be spread thin this summer as they scour the country in search of commitments. This is why State is so lucky to have the full support of Debbie Yow and boosters who make every effort to give the coaches the resources to see these kids every chance they get. Lets hope that it will result in some big time signings.
