After deciding to transfer from UNC-Charlotte after winning the Conference USA Freshman of the Year award, Shooting Guard Torin Dorn Jr. (6’5″/201) chose to commit to NC State last night over Miami.  Dorn’s father, Torin Dorn, played football at UNC and went on to have a successful career in the NFL with the Rams and the Raiders.  The Wolfpack is also closely recruiting Torin’s brother Myles to come and play football at NC State.

Dorn was a 3-Star recruit (ESPN) out of Vance High School, averaging 21.6 points, 5 rebounds and 5.6 assists as a Senior. He did this while playing out of position at point guard that year, because the team had lost 4 starters that season.  In Dorn’s first season at UNC-Charlotte, he averaged 12 points per game while shooting 50.5% from the field.  He led the 49ers in scoring, and was the Conference USA Freshman of the Year, and was even a finalist for the Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year award.

Dorn will sit out this season, but have three years of eligibility remaining to play basketball at NC State.

Here is a video rundown of NC State’s new shooting guard: Torin Dorn.
