If you’re a fan of Major League Baseball, then you might be aware the the #2 overall prospect Carlos Correa was called up this week by the Houston Astros. For someone to be called up, someone must be sent down. That someone was former NC State pitched Jake Buchanan. After being called up on May 13th, Buchanan pitched in relief in 5 games for the Astros. In 9 innings, he gave up two earned runs, 5 hits, and stuck out 5 (2.00 ERA/1.00WHIP).

Buchanan saw action in 17 games last season for the Astros (two games started) and posted a 1-3 record and a 4.58 ERA. With his departure, Carlos Rodon is now the lone wolf representing NC State in the Major Leagues. Buchanan was drafted by the Astros in the 8th round of the 2010 draft, and now heads back down to Triple-A Fresno.
