Scout’s Evan Daniels sat down and talked with NC State’s top 2016 point guard target Dennis Smith Jr. in the video at this link.  Here are some of the key quotes from Smith.

On what he’s learned at Stephen Curry Select Camp…

“The biggest thing I’ve learned from Steph Curry is tempo.  He picks his spots really well.  We watched that during the film session, and I’m trying to translate that to my game.”

On what he is working on to improve his game…

“The main thing I’m working on right now is putting on weight.  I have good size for my position, but I’m trying to get stronger for the next level.”

On how he thought he has done against the competition recently…

“I think I’ve stacked up pretty well.  Just like every other guy would probably say.  They think they’re the best.  That’s how I think as well.  I think I’m the best player.”

On which schools were prioritizing him…

“Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, Louisville, California.”

On which schools he’s been visiting…

“I’ve been up to NC State and UNC the last two weeks.”

On what he liked about NC State…

“Both trips up there I just played basketball.  With both of them I just like interacting with the players, and after I play I liked talking with the coaches.”

On upcoming visits…

“I think I will take my official visits in the Fall.”

On head coaches he has built a good relationship with…

“Duke, UNC, and NC State because they are close and I see them a lot more on the unofficials.”

On the main thing he’s looking for…

“My main thing I’m looking for is relationships.”

On if he has a timeframe…

“I don’t have one.”
