NC State’s Joe Dunand will participate in the sixth annual TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby in Omaha on Thursday, July 2 at 8:30 PM ET.
The freshman third baseman and nephew of Alex Rodriguez cranked seven homers in his first year, four shy of the NC State freshman record held by Brian Bark (11 in 1987). Dunand’s total marks the fourth most for a Wolfpack true freshman since 1987.
Dunand will square off against defending champion Eric Gutierrez of Texas Tech, as well as Wake Forest’s Will Craig, North Dakota’s Jeff Campbell, BYU’s Colton Shaver, Miami’s Zack Collins, Georgia Tech’s Kel Johnson, and Mercer’s Kyle Lewis.
Live coverage of the event from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha will air on ESPN. @NCStateBaseball will tweet updates throughout the competition.
