Yesterday Jon Rothstein confirmed that former St. John’s Center Chris Obekpa will be visiting NC State in the near future, which we reported back on July 3rd after speaking with Obkepa himself.

Wherever Obekpa lands, he will have to sit one year before playing out the final year of his eligibility. If Obekpa chose to run with the Wolfpack, he would join BeeJay Anya, and they would have two of the top shot blockers in the country on the same squad. Obekpa averaged 3.1 blocks per game last season, which ranked 5th in the NCAA.

Interesting prospect. Lineups with both Obekpa and Anya would wreak havoc on anybody entering the lane. The biggest question mark imho has to be do we have shorts short enough for this guy? I see UnderArmour furnished him a pair reminiscent of the kind State wore in their glory days, will Adidas be able to assuage his obvious affinity for 70s-80s era college bball stylings?
