Former NC State safety Adrian Wilson signed a one-day contract with the Arizona Cardinals on April 20th so that he could officially retire with the team he spent his first 12 seasons with in the NFL. Today Wilson announced that his jersey will be the 15th one to join the Ring of Honor in the rafters of University of Phoenix Stadium. Wilson’s jersey will take a lift to the roof on September 27th when the Cardinals host the 49ers.

Wilson finished his NFL career with 987 tackles (716 solo), 25.5 sacks, 27 interceptions, 106 passes defensed, 15 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries and four touchdowns. Wilson is one of only six players in NFL history to record at least 25 sacks and 25 interceptions in their career. Wilson was a 5 time Pro Bowler with the Cardinals (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).  He was also 1st Team All Pro in 2009 and 2nd Team in 2006 & 2008.

After playing three seasons at NC State, Wilson was drafted in the third round by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2001 NFL draft. It looks like they made a good investment.

Congrats Adrian!
