Winning bowl games is something that NC State football has done quite well throughout its history.  In fact, the Wolfpack rank 13th in the nation in bowl winning percentage (minimum 15 bowl appearances).

1) Utah – 13-4 – 76.5%
2) USC – 33-16 – 67.3%
3) Oklahoma St. – 16-9 – 64%
4) Mississippi – 23-10 – 63.9%
5) Florida St. – 27-15-2 – 63.6%
6) Syracuse – 15-9-1 – 62%
7) Oklahoma – 28-19-1 – 59.4%
8) Auburn – 22-15-2 – 59%
8) Georgia – 28-19-3 – 59%
8) Penn State – 22-15-2 – 59%
11) Alabama – 34-24-3 – 58.2%
12) Georgia Tech – 24-19 – 55.8%
13) NC State – 15-12-1 – 55.8%

Does this stat say that NC State is almost as good as Alabama as a college football program?  No.  That’s not the point.  Obviously some of these teams have been to a lot more bowls than others, and some schools have gone to much more prestigious bowls than others.  What it does mean is that when NC State has gone to a bowl game, they have been one of the best in the country of walking out with a victory.

Would love to see these win percentages correlated with say, the opponent’s average AP ranking. And also the spread of those opponent rankings. I imagine the ACC is cleaning up in the mid and low tier bowls while the SEC has been great no matter the quality of the bowl or opponent.
