Maverick Rowan Leaning Toward NC State?

Covering the recruitment saga of Maverick Rowan this summer has made me look silly on numerous occasions.  I have no qualms confessing that.  I think he has made a lot of people look silly.

Here’s what I know at this point.  The NC State coaching staff up until here recently wasn’t optimistic about where they stood with Rowan because they were in the dark.  Rowan’s camp has been very quiet throughout this process.

Then rumors started swirling around that Rowan was leaning toward NC State, and now the last four 247 Crystal Ball Predictions have gone in the favor of the Wolfpack.  If I’ve learned anything about this ball in Rowan’s recruitment, it’s that it is very unstable at times.

So last night I reached out to one of the analysts who cast his vote for NC State to glean any new insight in regards to the sudden shift in favor of the Wolfpack.  He said that things don’t look good with St. John’s and Louisville, and that supposedly Louisville got frustrated and has backed away.  He also said that the fact that NC State is an Adidas school works in their favor with Rowan.  I spoke with another national analyst last night that said that Rowan’s dad has wanted him to go to a Nike school, where he could get a lot of shots.

NC State – Adidas
Louisville – Adidas
St. John’s – Under Armour
West Virginia – Nike

If you haven’t figured it out yet, this recruitment is a tad confusing.

If in fact things aren’t looking good for Louisville and St. John’s, then things could be looking good for NC State.  West Virginia might be a Nike school, but they just randomly appeared on his last Top-4, when they weren’t even on his original Top 6.  NC State has been in his Top 6, Top 4, Top 3, and then his Top 4 again.

Rowan has been adamant about going somewhere where he can play.  He’s a shooter and he wants to shoot.  He’s already determined that he will wear the #24 wherever he goes, and if he chooses NC State, he will follow in the footsteps of a couple of guys who knew how to put the ball in the hoop.  Who wore the #24 at NC State?  Just a couple of guys named Tom Gugliotta, Julius Hodge and T.J. Warren.

I hope he comes to our Adidas school. His dad is crazy if he wants his son to go to a Nike school. I personally won’t let anyone in my house wearing Nike or UnderArmour as well, and that includes members of my immediate family. That goes for Prada, Jimmy Choo, and Tiffany, but not Louis Vuitton and Steve Madden. Anyway, wherever he goes this Rowan kid will get a good education on what’s really important in life, namely branding, merchandising, and stacks of cash. I eagerly await his every scripted move on Instagram and Twitter as well. You can… Read more »
