O’Bannon Jr. is the son of the Charles O’Bannon that won a NCAA championship with UCLA back in 1995. NC State head coach Mark Gottfried was an Assistant Coach at UCLA when O’Bannon played there.
Junior is a 5-star prospect according to ESPN (31st overall), and Rivals (57), Scout (54) and 247 (39) all give him 4-stars. O’Bannon stands 6’5″ tall, which makes him hard to nail down when it comes to a future position. Whether or not he is a Shooting Guard or a Small Forward is still to be determined.
NC State offered O’Bannon Jr. back on July 11th after the NC State coaches watched him play with the Las Vegas Prospects at the Peach Jam. He also holds offers from Arizona, UCLA, Kansas, California, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UNLV, USC, Wake Forest, Washington, Utah, and others.
Nice. Looks like Gott is using his connections to UCLA championship team.
