Wolfpack NFL Report: Preseason Week 4

Published

on

Last night marked the conclusion of the 2015 NFL Preseason.  Here is a breakdown of how all of the former NC State football players did last night.

Quarterback

Mike Glennon struggled in the Buccaneers 22-17 defeat of the Dolphins last night.  He completed 11 of his 20 passes for 141 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.  Glennon’s QB Rating for the evening was 54.4.  Former FSU Quarterback Jameis Winston has nailed down the starting job in Tampa, and Glennon will be backing him up.

Russell Wilson only made one pass in last nights 31-21 Seahawk victory over the Raiders, and it was good for a 63-yard touchdown to Tyler Lockett.

Philip Rivers didn’t play in the Chargers 14-12 loss to the 49ers last night.

Wide Receiver

Jerricho Cotchery didn’t play in the Panthers 23-6 victory over the Steelers last night.  Cotchery is still coming back from a minor groin injury in last weeks game, but is expected to be ready for Week 1.  There was a point when Cotchery’s name was possibly on the roster bubble at Carolina, but with the loss of Kelvin Benjamin for the season, that seems very unlikely.

Tobais Palmer played in the Bills 17-10 loss to the Lions last night, but didn’t record any stats as a wide receiver.  He did return 2 punts for a total of 15 yards.  Palmer had to leave the game early with a migraine.  He was fighting for a spot on the roster this preseason, and we will have to see if he did enough when the final cuts are made.

Linebacker

Nate Irving started and played in his first preseason game of the 2015 season last night.  The Predator was signed to a three-year contract by the Colts to come in and be a run stopper, but the first priority has been recovering from ACL surgery.  Last night he had 1 tackle in the Colts 9-6 loss to the Bengals.  He only played one series, but he was able to put pressure on the quarterback in this play.

Willie Young had 2 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 QB hit last night in the Bears 24-0 crushing of the Browns.  Young had 10 sacks last season, and you would assume his spot on the team was a lock, but after switching him to Outside Linebacker in the new 3-4 scheme, that has been in question.

Audie Cole had 3 tackles, 1 pass deflection and 1 forced fumble in the Vikings 24-17 loss to the Titans last night.  For two seasons Cole has been fighting for a starting spot, but after drafting Eric Kendricks in the second round, he has been playing for his life this preseason.

Stephen Tulloch didn’t play in the Lions 17-10 defeat of the Bills last night.

Manny Lawson didn’t play in the Bills 17-10 loss to the Lions last night.

Defensive Line

DT T.Y. McGill continued his solid preseason campaign last night, recording 2 tackles (1 for loss) in the Seahawks 31-21 victory over the Raiders last night.  McGill went undrafted, but has done all that he can to show he deserves a roster spot.

DT Markus Kuhn started in his 4th consecutive NFL preseason game last night.  He had one tackle in the Giants 12-9 victory over the Patriots.

DE Mario Williams didn’t play in the Bills 17-10 loss to the Lions last night.

Defensive Back

CB David Amerson started in the Redskins 17-16 loss to the Jaguars last night, and recorded 1 tackle.

CB Dontae Johnson had 1 tackle in the 49ers 14-12 win over the Chargers last night.

Running Back

Tony Creecy didn’t see any action in the Patriots 12-9 loss to the Giants last night.  It would be shocking for Creecy to make the final roster in New England.

Offensive Line

G J.R. Sweezy started his 4th consecutive preseason game last night for the Seahawks in their 31-21 victory over the Raiders.

G Ted Larsen didn’t play in the Cardinals 22-20 victory over the Broncos last night.
