Yesterday the Seattle Seahawks cut former NC State Defensive Tackle T.Y. McGill, which was a surprise to even many people in Seattle.  McGill was the #3 rates Defensive Tackle in the NFL at stopping the run this preseason according to ProFootballFocus.com.  It didn’t take long for someone to take advantage of the Seahawks loss.  The Indianapolis Colts claimed McGill off of waivers today.

The Colts claimed a pair of trench-players on Sunday, adding defensive tackle T.Y. McGill and offensive guard Robert Myers to their 53-man roster.

To make room for McGill and Myers, the Colts waived-injured Boom Herron and also waived rookie sixth-round pick Amarlo Herrera.

McGill, who stands 6-0 and 299 pounds, brings the Colts defensive line total to six bodies currently on the 53-man roster.

After going undrafted back in May, McGill earned a tryout at the Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp and clearly left an impression. (Colts)
