NC State Visiting 2017 PG Lavar Batts Today

The recruiting period began today, and NC State head coach Mark Gottfried hit the skies today in a helicopter to visit 2016 5-star prospects Dennis Smith Jr. and Bam Adebayo.  Other members of the NC State coaching staff hit the road to go visit 4-star 2017 PG Lavar Batts out of Robinson High School in Concord, North Carolina.

Batts doesn’t hold an offer from the Wolfpack yet, but back in June he told Scout’s Evan Daniels that NC State was his leader at this point.

“Yes, I like NC State the most right now… a little bit, but I like all the schools. Whoever comes at me, I’m blessed, I’m thankful for.” (Scout)

Lavar was at NC State’s football game vs. Florida State last year, and also took in the Wolfpack’s victory over Duke in basketball last season.  NC State assistant coach Bobby Lutz visited Batts back in April, and the staff watched him on the AAU circuit this summer.  He is one of the top players in the state of North Carolina in the 2017 class, and it looks like the Wolfpack wants to keep him from leaving the state.
