Here’s the NC State NFL Report for Week 1 of the NFL season.  Below we breakdown the performance of each of the former Wolfpack players in the NFL.  Nine of the 17 players that played yesterday, started for their respective teams.

Quarterbacks

Philip Rivers was incredible in the Chargers season opening 33-28 victory over the Lions.  He was 35 of 42 for 404 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.  Rivers’ QB Rating in Week 1 was 102.8.  It was Rivers’ 7th career 400 yard passing game.  His 2nd touchdown of the game was his 254th of his career, tying Dan Fouts for the Chargers record for most passing touchdowns.

Russell Wilson was decent in the Seahawks 34-31 loss to the Rams.  He was 32 of 41 for 251 yards, with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.  He also had 8 rushes for 31 yards.  Wilson’s QB Rating in the game was 90.1.  Wilson’s quasi-prophetic tweet about a victory over the Rams on Saturday, the day before the game, came back to bite him.  The St. Louis Rams were adamant not to let Wilson forget his failed prophecy.

Mike Glennon didn’t play in the Buccaneers 42-14 loss to the Titans. Wide Receiver  Carolina lost Kelvin Benjamin for the entire season, but

Wide Receiver

Jerricho Cotchery helped fill the void in the Panthers 20-9 Week 1 victory over the Jaguars,  leading the Panthers with 4 receptions, and he was the only receiver to reel in a touchdown.  Cothcery had 45 receiving yards and was targeted 6 times.

Defensive End Mario Williams started in the Bills 27-14 victory over the Colts in Week 1, but didn’t record any stats.

Defensive Tackle T.Y. McGill saw action as a backup in the Colts 27-14 loss to the Bills, but failed to record any stats.
