The two most notable names on this list are Dereck Whittenburg and Spud Webb.

Dereck Whittenburg scored 1,272 career points as a member of the Wolfpack and ranks 2nd in NC State history in career 3-point shooting percentage (47.6%).  He was named to the 2nd Team All-ACC team in 1982 and was also named to the All ACC-Tournament 2nd Team.  In 1983, when the Cardiac Pack won the NCAA championship, Whittenburg was named to the All-Regional and All-NCAA Finals teams.  Whittenburg’s honored jersey that hangs in the rafters is the #25, but he also wore the #4 prior to that.  He currently is the Director of Player Development for the NC State Men’s Basketball Team.

After playing his first two seasons at Midland College, Spud Webb transferred to play his final two seasons at NC State.  In two seasons with the Wolfpack, Webb averaged 10.4 points and 5.7 assists per game.  He was named to the All ACC-Tournament 2nd Team and the NCAA All-Regional Team in 1985.  Webb went on to be drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the 4th round of the 1985 NBA Draft with the 87th overall pick.  He had a 12-year NBA career, tallying 8,072 points and 4,342 assists over his career.
