Pack in the Pros

David Amerson Claimed By The Raiders

Published

on

Yesterday the Washington Redskins waived former NC State Cornerback David Amerson, and it only took one day for the Oakland Raiders to scoop him up off the waiver wire.  The Raiders cut Safety Devin McDonald to make room for Amerson.  Amerson will probably start off at cornerback, but there are some that think that he will find his way to the Free Safety position.

Amerson earned 1st team All-American honors after his Sophomore season in Raleigh, as well as 1st Team All-ACC honors.  As a Junior he was named to the 2nd Team All-ACC.  His 18 career interceptions are good for the most in NC State history.

The Raiders are hoping that Amerson’s recent struggles have been related to the defensive scheme he has been in, and not his actual ability.

Congrats David!

Glad to hear Amerson landed quickly with another team. After watching his last season with the Pack I was concerned about how he would do in the pros because that last season he got torched a few times. So I was starting to wonder about his speed. Hopefully he can start fresh with the Raiders and get his mojo back.
