Jacoby Brissett’s Streak By The Numbers

Published

on

It has been well documented that Jacoby Brissett has been a great addition to the NC State program ever since he transferred from Florida.  The Wolfpack were coming off a winless ACC season prior to Brissett taking over as QB.  A big reason why Jacoby has been so successful is because he values the ball and rarely throws an interception.  He has also been a big reason why the Wolfpack have made great strides as a football team, as they won 8 games a year ago.

Lets delve into the streak which is currently ranked as the 7th longest streak in ACC history.

By the numbers:

  • 189 attempts without an interception.
  • 30 quarters of play without a pick.
  • Last INT came against Georgia Tech on November 8th 2014 (NC State’s last loss).
  • Jacoby currently holds two of the top eight interception-free streaks in ACC history (187 & 189).
  • Second among active NCAA players who have not thrown an interception, trailing Dak Prescott (192 attempts without a pick) of Mississippi State.
  • 11 touchdowns thrown in his last 189 attempts.
  • NC State is 7-0 during Jacoby’s streak.

All-Time ACC Interception Free Streaks

1) Russell Wilson (NCSU) – 379 – 2008-09
2) Drew Weatherford (FSU) – 270 – 2007
3) Christian Ponder (FSU) – 237 – 2009
3) Chris Weinke (FSU) – 237 -1999
5) Matt Blundin (UVA) – 213 – 1990-91
6) Thaddeus Lewis (Duke) – 206 – 2007-08
7) Jacoby Brissett (NCSU) – 189 – 2014-15

Brissett and company will look to preserve the streak this Saturday as Bobby Petrino and the Louisville Cardinals come to town.  His streak will have a worthy test as the Cardinals have 9 interceptions on the season.  Will the streak continue?  We will find out Saturday at 12:30.
