Here’s the NC State NFL Report for Week 5 of the NFL season.  Below we breakdown the performance of each of the former Wolfpack players in the NFL.  Philip Rivers and the Chargers will take on the Steelers tonight on Monday Night Football at 8:30pm.

Linebacker

Nate Irving got his first start as a member of the Colts, and recorded 6 tackles and 1 tackle for loss in Indianapolis’ 27-20 victory over Houston.

Season Stats: 6 tackles and 1 tackle for loss

Stephen Tulloch had 5 tackles, 1 tackles for loss, and 1 Quarterback Hit in the Lions 42-17 loss to the Cardinals.  Tulloch currently ranks 24th in the NFL in tackles.

Season Stats: 36 tackles (24th), 2 tackles for loss, 1 fumble recovery

Manny Lawson started for the Bills in their 14-13 victory over the Titans and had season high of 3 tackles.

Season Stats: 7 tackles

Willie Young picked up his first sack of the season yesterday in the Bears 18-17 victory over the Chiefs.

Season Stats: 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss

Defensive Line

Mario Williams had 3 tackles, 1 sack and 2 QB hits in the Bills 14-13 victory over the Titans.

Season Stats: 10 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss

After missing three straight games with a knee injury, Markus Kuhn returned to to the lineup and recorded 2 tackles in the Giants 30-27 win over the 49ers.

Season Stats: 3 tackles, 1 tackles for loss

Defensive Back

David Amerson started his second straight game as a member of the Raiders, and recorded 5 tackles an 1 pass deflection in the their 16-10 loss to the Broncos.  The pass deflection came from a pass attempt from Peyton Manning to Demaryius Thomas.

Season Stats: 15 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 1 forced fumble

After being benched last week for some odd reason, Dontae Johnson returned to the field and recorded 1 tackle in the 49ers 30-27 loss to the Giants.

Season Stats: 6 tackles and 2 pass deflections

Quarterback

Philip Rivers had a solid performance in the Chargers Monday Night Football matchup versus the Steelers, but it wasn’t enough.  Rivers was 35 of 48 for 365 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception in San Diego’s 24-20 loss to Pittsburgh.  His QB Rating was 99.7.  Rivers was glad to have Tight End Antonio Gates back, connecting with him on two touchdowns. 

He also celebrated one of them by throwing a glove in the air and punching it.  Some initially thought a bird was punched.  Everyone can take a deep breath.  No bird was harmed in Rivers’ celebration.  

Season Stats: 1,613 yards (1st), 71.3% (5th), 10 touchdowns (5th), 5 interceptions, 103.9 QB Rating (6th) 

Russell Wilson was 9 of 15 for 213 yards with 1 touchdown (1 interception) in the Seahawks 27-24 loss to the Bengals.  He was sacked 4 times and had a QB rating of 91.4.

Season Stats: 1,192 passing yards, 70.7% (6th), 6 touchdowns 3 interceptions, 99.1 QB Rating (11th), 198 rushing yards, 5.4 yards per carry

Mike Glennon didn’t play in the Bucs 38-31 win over the Jaguars.

Kicker

Steven Hauschka connected on his only field goal attempt from 24 yards out.  He also kicked all three of his PAT attempts through the uprights.

Season Stat: 11/11 FG (3rd), 10/10 PAT, 43 points (7th)

Offensive Line

J.R. Sweezy started in the Seahawks 27-24 loss to the Bengals.  He has started in all 5 games this season.

Ted Larsen was inactive for the second straight game for the Cardinals.  They defeated the Lions 42-17.
