NC State BAM Testing Results

NC State Basketball has used BAM Testing since 2012, and became the first college program to use such testing as a measuring stick for athletic improvement.  BAM Testing is the official testing of the NBA Combine. The drills are designed to measure a players athletic ability and a players reaction to certain situations.

BAM Testing is a sexy term, but NC State appears to be using it to their full advantage!  They have improved each Fall as BAM has ventured to Raleigh to test the Pack.  Check out the chart below that details the improvement of each season.

Some of the numbers that stood out on an individual level were the approach vertical of Terry Henderson and Malik Abu. Henderson had an approach vertical of 42 inches which is tied for third among all shooting guards since 2009. Abu was even more impressive as he posted the highest recorded approach vertical for power forwards, as he was recorded at 41.5 inches. Then NC State set another record as Caleb Martin recored the fastest reaction shuttle time ever at 2.735 seconds. Oh, and Cat is as fast as advertised as he posted a 3/4 court sprint time of 3.15 seconds, which was good enough for 14th all-time among point guards.

NC State Strength Coach, Bob Alejo, summed it up best, “NC State relies heavily on the developmental process. We compare our guys against the best…future NBA players.”
