A.J. Cole Punting the Pack Ahead

Special teams play is critical to a teams success and can make or break a game…just ask Michigan. NC State freshman punter A.J. Cole has proven to be very reliable. On the season Cole has pinned opponents inside the 20 yard line 16 times, and placed 7 of his 32 punts inside the 10 yard line. With an average boot of 41.1 yards per punt, Cole ranks 9th in the ACC. It appears that Cole is starting to find more power as he has had a punt over 50 yards in each of the last 5 games.

AJ’s punting has helped NC State’s defense. For the season NC State’s opponents have had an average starting position on the 18 yard line. I only expect Cole to improve as the season progresses. Hopefully he will not have too many punts this coming Saturday.
