Could Terry Henderson be back for UNC game?

After his ankle injury, we heard that Terry Henderson would be back by ACC play (Jan 2nd). Then on Dec 10th, Mark Gottfried was quoted as saying it could be mid-January to early Feb. before the two guard is back in action.

NC State’s Terry Henderson (ankle) won’t return until mid-January or possibly February, Mark Gottfried told CBS Sports. Henderson has only played a total of seven minutes this season.

Yesterday, when ESPN asked Gottfried if the Henderson timetable still stood, he quoted the mid-January date and left off the February possibility. Maybe he was being optimistic or maybe the staff is starting to see some improvements in his ankle.

We’re thinking that the Jan. 13th game at home vs. FSU could be the comeback game for Terry, giving him a one game tune-up before the rivalry matchup with the Tarheels.

Why will it help?

Don’t get us wrong, Maverick Rowan has been good for Mark Gottfried, but he’s still a freshman who has been a bit inconsistent. Henderson was a decent scorer (12ppg) for West Virginia just two years ago and shot over 40% from beyond the arc. While Maverick Rowan is not far off form those numbers, Terry brings more versatility, better defense and will increase depth. He will definitely be a welcome addition back to the rotation for Gottfried and co.
