NC State 6 Point Dogs vs Bulldogs

on

As of right now NC State stands as 6 point underdogs heading into the December 30th match-up against Mississippi State. On the surface many may pick the Bulldogs with ease as they are an SEC school that won 8 games on the season.  They have Dak Prescott, who many believe will go down as one of the better college quarterbacks to ever play.  NC State on the other hand struggled against upper echelon schools and did not have any impressive wins to write home about.

The Wolfpack should be able to have some success on the ground as Mississippi State has allowed on average 171.7 yards per game, and 4.1 yards per carry. This is good news for State as they have the weapons to exploit the Bulldogs’ pedestrian run defense. NC State finished the season ranked 37th in rushing offense as they averaged 201.4 yards a game, if NC State stands any chance this coming Wednesday they will need to control the clock and keep the ball out of Dak Prescott’s hand. Do not underestimate Jacoby Brissett who is playing his final game in Red & White, if he can keep the defense honest with his legs, then he could have some success at finding Samuels and Hines for some big gainers.

In my opinion the safe bet would be to take the Bulldogs at -6, I just have a feeling that State will struggle mightily at keeping them out of the end-zone especially given the success that Mississippi State has had through the air. Prescott has thrown for 25 touchdowns compared to just 4 interceptions in his final season, it will take a monumental effort from the Pack to contain him. In summary, I expect it to be a fun game full of offensive fireworks on both sides, but in the end I feel like the Bulldogs are more prepared given their schedule and the level of competition they have faced to get more stops. Take Mississippi State at plus 6 and hope the Pack pulls the upset.
