OC Matt Canada Let Go After 3 Years
According to Sports Illustrated, NC State has let go of offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

After State’s Belk Bowl loss to Mississippi State, I think it was safe to say that there would be a little turnover inside the coaching staff, but not many were expecting it to be OC Matt Canada. In year 3 of Dave Doeren, NC State failed to make much progress. Many believed the strong finish to 2014 and the return of Brissett for his senior season would make State a contender in the ACC.
While there are a lot of areas you could point to, the offense was not really on the list of major problems. NC State finished 3rd in the ACC behind only UNC and Clemson in scoring offense (33.2 ppg). In fact, there were times when the Pack looked dominant, especially on the ground. Once Thornton was dismissed and Dayes went down, I think most sane fans knew there might be some struggles.
Maybe this was a move to were they felt they just needed a change of scenery and with a new QB ready to be named next season, it might have been the most logical time. We’ll try to find more out about this as the week goes by.
The offense was good at times against weak competition, but was highly inconsistent and not very good against decent to good defenses (UL, VT). We may have ranked 3rd in the ACC with 33 points/game, but for conference games only, we ranked 4th in a virtual 5 way tie at 27 pts/game. Not bad, but nothing special. And I personally think we did that well despite Canada, bc he under-utilized Grinnage and Samuels all season.
