ESPN ACC Football “Early Power Rankings”

ESPN recently posted their way to early ACC predictions for next football season. Take a look at what they had to say by clinking on this link.

Here is what they had to say about the Pack specifically as they had them slotted in the 10th spot,

It is safe to say our impression of the Wolfpack has slipped. They underperformed in 2015 and lose quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Until this team can post a .500 record or better in ACC play, it will be hard to put them in the top half of the league. ESPN

I couldn’t agree more with this statement as Doeren must prove that he can produce a winning record in the ACC. The seat is getting quite warm for him as he has now posted three seasons of futility in the ACC.

  • Year 1 0-8
  • Year 2 3-5
  • Year 3 3-5

NC State made a splash by hiring Drinkwitz from Boise State as their new offensive coordinator, they are hoping that he can bring some of the same pop to Raleigh that he had in Boise. It will be imperative that Drinkwitz call upon his experience at bringing an inexperienced QB up to speed quickly as he did at Boise St this past season. Boise St was forced to play freshman Brett Rypien, but still manage to have a top ranked offense. The Broncos were ranked 15th in scoring and total offense for the season.

This offseason will be critical and must focus on improvement from within as State will have a new signal caller and new faces on the offensive line. Even though some are inexperienced State does have a slew of weapons returning highlighted by Matt Dayes, Jaylen Samuels, and Nyhiem Hines. In addition to these guys State will add the talents of highly coveted red-shirt freshman Johnny Frasier.

I will believe it when I see it personally, until State gets results against top notch programs I will be cautiously optimistic.
