NC State Beats Wake Behind Barber’s 38

Published

on

NC State got another amazing performance out of Cat Barber as he reached a new career high in points scoring 38 on the day! It looked to be a pedestrian day by the leading scorer in the ACC as he only had 8 points at intermission. Coach Gottfried gave him a simple plea at half, “get going.” Cat took his advice to heart as he poured in 30 points in the second half. Barber was magnificent at finding creases and getting to the line, he finished 17-20 from the free throw line.

It wasn’t just Barber who contributed on the day, Maverick Rowan scored 20 points, and Caleb Martin chipped in 18 off the bench. For the game the Pack shot  50% and knocked down 8 threes. Wake Forest was paced by Codi Miller-Mcintyre, the senior lead the Deacons with 24 points. In addition to Miller-McIntyre big man Devon Thomas scored 15 points and pulled in a career high 21 rebounds.

NC State will have to put this win behind them as they travel to UVA tomorrow in preparation for a showdown in Charlottesville on Monday. The Cavs lost a heartbreaker to the Blue Devils today in Cameron Indoor Stadium as Grayson Allen hit a circus shot at the buzzer. The Pack will need to be ready for a slower pace game come Monday and will have to find a way to score against a stingy UVA defense.

Lock all the doors, we can’t let Barber leave early next year.
