NC State Moves to # 6

Published

on

Evan Daniels now has NC State rated as the 6th best recruiting class for 2016. Mark Gottfried has two 5 star recruits signed, Dennis Smith Jr and Omer Yurtseven. Earlier last week State added 3 star prospect Darius Hicks to the fold. The three prospect class should be able to make an immediate impact, as Smith will replace Cat Barber, and Yurtseven and Hicks will bolster the front court. If Malik Abu returns then State could be set up to have a deadly front court that would pair Abu with the big talented Yurtseven.

What do you think of the incoming class? Is it deserving of the 6th best class, or is it overrated?

indykidder Wolfer96 You boys need to play nice since things seem to be going our way for a change.  I only want to know one thing, how much  does being Valedictorian pay back in the good ole days.

Wolfer96 If your guess is that I’ve been a fan for less than 50 years, then you’ve guessed wrong. Grew up on Van Williford, David Thompson, Hawkeye Whtney, Thurl Bailey, etc, etc, etc. Seen two national championships, lived in Raleigh and my Dad graduated from State. I did not need college, since I was already very well employed before graduating as Valedictorian of my class in high school. I bleed red and white and root for them come hell or high water and there’s been plenty of that since 1992…

Well, you haters can go on hating, but as I said before, Malik will be back (as if there was ever any doubt, LOL). You can either make him feel welcome on the team that he has always been a part of or not. Personally, if I live to see the season, I know I’ll get to see him have his best performance yet and maybe he’ll truly be ready for the NBA at this time next year. Whether he texted anything to Goodman or not (what the hell would Goodman be doing giving his number out to college kids… Read more »

DavidGarrett1 ComSci nice! Haven’t had someone that smart on the team since Todd Fuller (to my knowledge all A’s and 1 B during his time at State).

indykidder Wolfer96 And since you are being so pedantic about my writing here is a link that will explain to you why “could care less” is perfectly acceptable in North America where I currently reside: http://grammarist.com/usage/could-care-less/

indykidder Wolfer96 Let’s leave it to me to decide whom I root for. I will root for the Pack regardless of whether or not Abu is part of the team or whether or not Gottfried is the coach of the team. Why? because ultimately I root for my school and not any one player or coach. And my guess is that I’ve been a fan of the Pack far longer than you have been alive so take a step back commissioner. I also have a degree from the institution. It’s pretty damned simple. If goodman is lying then just come out… Read more »

Wolfer96 My goodness, you could care less? Then why don’t you? Maybe you meant you could not care less, but actually you care a GREAT DEAL, because Goodman is the only one who has said a thing, Your whole butt hurt attitude toward Malik is all based on hearsay from the mouth of Goodman. Whether it occurred or not, he has done the right thing by not commenting on it. He owes NO ONE an explanation or apology when he has said nothing publicly. Again – nothing but hearsay and it should stay that way, which is exactly what needs… Read more »

indykidder Wolfer96 Could care less about what Goodman has to say. He’s nobody to me. What I do care about is what a member of the Wolfpack basketball team says or doesn’t say. I don’t know if Abu said what he said in anger or frustration or if he said it at all. But what I do know is that he has had plenty of time to either explain himself, deny the rumors, or confirm the rumors. None of which he has done.

He might be one and done but in his shoes he could good pro now. Plus is major will be Computer Science. Not many one and done players pick that as their major.

Wolfer96 So no one here has ever said anything in anger or frustration that they later regretted? The supposed Abu text came right after the NBA announced the Combine invites. If he does somehow have Goodman’s phone number and did text him those things, I’ll bet he wishes he had not. Better to make it look like it never happened than to acknowledge it and try to backtrack. There are two FACTS right now – he has not transferred AND he has not hired an agent, so unless one of those two things happen in the next week, guess where… Read more »

indykidder Pickard for Pack Silence is guilt. If I were Abu and someone erroneously stated that I was looking to transfer, I would immediately respond via twitter or through the athletic dept that was not the case. To my knowledge he has yet to deny the rumors. If that isn’t guilt then I don’t know what it is. There is no explanation so don’t look for one.

Pickard for Pack Again, he has said nothing publicly and until he does, he gets the benefit of the doubt, not epic NC State troll and asshole, Jeff Goodman. He gets the finger!

Abu also made the statement about transferring…if he really said that, then that is the antics and stupid decision….

Wolfer96 What are Abu’s “antics”?. He has said nothing publicly. He thought he would be invited to the NBA Combine and wasn’t, which I still find surprising. In order to get feedback from the NBA, he now has to go the workout route instead. Don’t be surprised if the State coaching staff isn’t helping him in the process. Let it play out. He’s not stupid.

Man are we a fickle group of fans.  It looks great on the surface but this is still NC State.  Someone mentioned that he played for a Turkish team that cost some other 5 star a year of playing.  If he is as good as stated then he is a one and done player and we are right back at this position next year.  Don’t get me wrong, it looks better than a week ago especially if Abu returns.  In my opinion, Abu’s game is not NBA quality even watered down as it is.  One more year would be nice.

wulfpacker I’m kinda pissed with all his antics so my initial reaction would be no I don’t want him back. But then we are still weak at PF with Freeman maybe not suiting up so it would be nice to have him on the roster.

Would like for Abu to come back. Would be a great combination of skill and power with him and Yurtseven.

Finally some good news for Wolfpack BB! Is it just me or does Omer’s arms look abnormally short for his height? Watched a video on him and he gets pushed around a bit. Could add a little muscle but he’s very active which is a plus for a big. Hopefully he won’t take as long as our last 7 footer to develop. I bet DSJ helps this kid get on the fast track to being productive. Need to see what Hicks can bring to the table in season 1. We need 3 star guys like him to stick around 4… Read more »
