Report: Abu Returning to State

Initial reports today are stating that Malik Abu will return to the Pack next season. ACC Sports Twitter tweeted the following:

This is great news for NC State and should give Gottfried one of his more talented groups since his arrival. Just the other day at the Wolfpack Caravan Gottfried talked about how he would like to add a few more pieces to sure up his teams depth for the 2016 season. NC State has had great success with gaining commitments after the normal recruiting season. Just last year Gottfried landed Maverick Rowan, and Shaun Kirk in the Summer, and this year landed Omer Yurtseven, and Darius Hicks.

Another guy the staff is looking to add is Antwan Walker, a late bloomer who is looking to possibly classify up out of DC. Standing at 6-7 210 pounds Walker would add some depth up-front. This past season he averaged 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Not only did he have a solid season individually but led his team to a 33-0 record.

Glad to hear Abu’s coming back. I watched his press conference and although he reaffirmed his commitment to the Pack he did mention that he was going through a period where he was unsure about his future with the Pack. Which I think we can infer that he did have a conversation with the media about transferring during that period.  Abu also apologized on twitter for “the scare” so I guess fans can put it in the rear view and look forward to a potentially great season.  If the new guys can gel with the old crew then I could… Read more »
