Trea Turner NL Rookie of the Month
Former NC State Shortstop Trea Turner was selected as the National League Rookie of the Month in August. Turner hit .357 and tallied 45 hits (Nationals Rookie Record), 6 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs, 15 RBIs, 11 stolen bases and 27 runs (Nationals Rookie Record).
Since getting called up on July 10th, among rookies with at least 180 plate appearances, Turner ranks 1st in batting average (.347), 4th in slugging percentage (.537), 4th in on-base percentage (.367), 1st in triples, and 2nd in stolen bases (20). All of this in only 45 games. In fact, he’s in the top 15 among all players in the National League in triples and steals.
Turner’s 20 stolen bases are a Nationals rookie record for a season, and it was accomplished in 45 games.
