NC State Women’s Soccer Ranked for 1st Time in Years

After defeating #7 UNC 1-0 the other day, NC State’s women’s soccer team (7-2) has broken into the Top 25.

This was only the 2nd time that the Wolfpack has beaten the Tar Heels, and the first time ever in Chapel Hill. The last time that NC State beat a ranked opponent was over 14 years ago (November 1st, 2002/UNC). After the big upset this weekend, NC State has jumped into the Top 25, sitting at #17, two spots in front of UNC.

As best I can tell, this is the first time that NC State’s women’s soccer team has been in the Top 25 since 1995, when the Wolfpack ladies finished the season ranked 9th.

NC State’s next game is this Thursday night at home against Notre Dame, who will be their second straight ranked opponent.
