Former NC State players are finally starting to get some traction in the NBA. Lorenzo Brown, Scott Wood and CJ Williams are three who are readying for their dress rehearsals as NBA camps begin.

Lorenzo Brown is under contract with the Pistons and fighting for a spot as a backup PG. He has the most realistic shot at breaking camp with the team.

Then you have CJ Williams. The former NC State glue guy has always had the fundamentals, the work ethic and the frame to be a bench guy in the NBA and now he’s finally getting his shot. Williams is on a training camp contract with the Mavs.

Lastly, there is the fan favorite and 3 point marksman, Scott Wood. Wood has been putting in his time overseas (Spain) and has landed on the training camp roster of the Golden State Warriors. You have to believe that he’s pretty pumped about this, seeing as the Warriors are a team that live and die by the 3. Wood is looking for a role as an off the bench specialist, and should get a decent look during training camp. The N&O recently caught up with him and got a few quotes.

“It’s really cool,” Wood said. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I just want to make the most of it.”

Wood said he is excited for the invite and is looking forward from soaking in knowledge from Curry, Thompson and Durant.

“I’m interested in how they go about their business,” Wood said. “It will be interesting to see their different shooting routines and drills.”

We’ll keep you updated on their performances in the coming weeks.
