NC State 33 Wake 16: What Went Wrong?

Published

on

NC State defeated Wake Forest 33-16 on Saturday, and while they did most everything right, there were a few things that went wrong that can be worked on.

-Wake Forest tallied 352 yards of Total Offense against the NC State defense, which isn’t terrible. With that being said, I’m not knocking Wake Forest, but I’m scared to see how many yards some of the teams left on our schedule will put up on us.

-NC State committed 13 penalties for a whopping 144 yards. 13. Penalties. The Wolfpack have 3 “winnable” games left on their schedule, but they won’t be “winnable” with undisciplined play like this.

-The Wolfpack did a great job taking care of the ball, but they didn’t manage to take the ball away from the Deacs. Some of these pass deflections need to turn into interceptions and we need to fall on the football when it’s fumbled. Taking the ball away from your opponent is one of the defining factors of winning teams.
