Gottfried Prepared to Start the Season…With or Without Yurtseven and Kapita

With both Omer Yurtseven and Ted Kapita still both waiting on NCAA approval to play this season, Gottfried is forced to prepare his team for playing both with and without the help of his 2 foreign big men.

According to Gottfried in a conversation with Jon Rothstein, Gottfried has held practices with Yurtseven and Kapita playing both with starters and also on second team. Gottfried also went as far as to say Kapita and Yurtseven were among “two of the top seven or eight” in his rotation. This comes as no shock for Yurtseven, but is very encouraging to hear about Kapita.

While they are still expected to be cleared in some capacity by the NCAA, losing these two is still a slight possibility and would be a major blow to the Packs depth in the post. As of now though, Gottfried has no choice but to be ready to make the best out of both.

State looks strong with or without their 2 new bigs, but would they have what it takes to take on the likes of Duke and Carolina without them?
