Omer Yurtseven on Pre-Season Kareem Abdul Jabbar Award Watch List

It looks as if another NC State player has made it on a preseason award watch list.

This time it’s Omer Yurtseven, the big man from Turkey. Omer is 1 of 20 players selected to be on the list of top centers for the upcoming season. He is also 1 of only 4 freshman who made it on the list.

The Kareem Abdul Jabbar Award watch list is chosen by a committee of top basketball personel and then announced by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

This is the 3rd year of which the Award exists. The previous winners are as follows:

2016: Jakob Poeltl (Utah)

2015: Frank Kaminsky (Wisconsin)

This is the 2nd Pack player to make a Preseason list. Dennis Smith Jr is also on a the Bob Cousy Award Watch List for PG’s.

Again, although just a watch list, this is a great honor and speaks volumes to the success the players had in the past. We here at Packinsider look forward to seeing what the big man can do against college competition as we already know what he can do against some of the overseas competition.
