The NC State swimming and diving team is off to a hot start in the national rankings, as the men’s team is listed at No. 3 and the women are No. 4 in the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll of the 2016-17 season, as released Wednesday morning.

This marks the highest the Wolfpack women have ever been listed in program history. The last time the men were listed at No. 3 was on February 5, 2016.

In the Wolfpack’s first weekend of competition the men and women earned wins over Wisconsin (ranked 13th and 17th in national poll) in their home opener. Looking ahead to the postseason, NC State earned a total of 29 NCAA ‘B’ cuts and two divers tabbed their NCAA Zone qualification marks last weekend.

On the men’s side, NC State leads the ACC in the national polls, as six other schools are listed among the top 25 (No. 9 Virginia Tech, No. 11 Louisville, No. 16 Notre Dame, No. 19 Georgia Tech, No. 20 UNC-Chapel Hill and No. 25 Virginia) and Duke is receiving votes.

In the women’s poll, Louisville is the only ACC team ahead of the Pack, as the Cardinals sit at No. 3. Four other teams from the conference are ranked in the top 25 (No. 6 Virginia, No. 19 Duke, No. 20 UNC-Chapel Hill and No. 24 Notre Dame), while Virginia Tech and Florida State are receiving votes.

NC State will return to action this weekend when its men host Northwestern Friday at 5 p.m. inside the Casey Aquatic Center, and the women’s team travels to No. 19 Duke Saturday for an 11 a.m. dual inside Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion.
