NC State’s Hannah Moore National Swimmer of the Week

RALEIGH- After a dominant performance in the pool and leading the NC State women’s swimming and diving team to its win over Wisconsin, Hannah Moore has been selected as CollegeSwimming.com’s National Female Swimmer of the Week.

The junior from Cary, N.C., earned wins in all four events that she competed in and earned NCAA ‘B’ cuts in three of them.

Moore posted a time of 16:00.23 in the 1,650 freestyle, which was 30 seconds faster than anyone else in the event. Her time is currently the fastest in the nation and stands as a Casey Aquatic Center record. The distance specialist’s 500 free time is currently No. 4 in the country, as her time of 4:41.84 bettered the NCAA ‘B’ standard time and also stands as a pool record.

In the 400 IM, she stopped the clock at 4:14.37 to earn the fifth-fastest time clocked this season in the event while earning her ‘B’ cut. She additionally won the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.09, and her 1,000 freestyle split in the 1,650 marked a pool record.

In addition to Moore’s accomplishment, senior Alexia Zevnik was named the female conference swimmer of the week for the ACC. She picked up wins in the 200 IM (2:00.27) and 200 backstroke (1:55.73) and finished second in the 100 back (53.37), as all three times are listed among the top 10 in the country and NCAA ‘B’ cuts.

Zevnik also played a part in the Wolfpack women’s sweep of the relay events, as she was the leadoff leg for the first-place 400 freestyle and medley relays. Her leadoff split of 49.97 in the 100 freestyle is also a ‘B’ cut.

NC State will return to action this weekend when its men host Northwestern Friday at 5 p.m. inside the Casey Aquatic Center, and the women’s team travels to Duke Saturday for an 11 a.m. dual inside Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion.
