Yurtseven Cleared to Play by NCAA
Freshman big man Omer Yurtseven has been cleared today by the NCAA and is eligible to play this season. However, his news does not come without some downside. Yurtseven will have to sit his first 9 games before he is eligible to play for the Wolfpack according to the ruling. He must also pay $1,000 to the charity of his choice.

Yurtseven will be able to start playing when State takes on Appalachian State on Dec 15, though he will get some game time in before that. Yurt will be eligible to both practice and play in all exhibition games.
We are not sure exactly what caused him to get the 9 game suspension at this time, nor are we sure why he’s forced to pay a $1,000 charity fine. Either way, this is good news for the Pack as they will have their highly touted 7-footer before ACC play. Although it may hurt not having him in the lineup early on, he should be able to ramp it up with 4 non-conference games before ACC play opens up.
